The Sleep Center at Park Plaza Hospital is now open and ready to help the approximate one-third of Americans who suffer from some type of sleep disorder. The Center Assistant Director, Chris Speigner, is a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT) who assists a team of skilled professionals as they focus on the range of primary sleep problems and related conditions such as insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, excessive daytime sleepiness, narcolepsy, and irregular sleep-wake schedules.
"Whether it's difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or being excessively sleepy during the day, we offer confidential diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of disorders" said Speigner.
The advanced technology and range of diagnostic capabilities allows experienced staff at the Sleep Center to monitor brain waves, eye and limb movements, heart rate and breathing and snoring while the patient sleeps in one of the Center's comfortable bedrooms. Because the Center offers some of the most extensive monitoring done today, the average patient stay is only 12 hours while data is collected in order to reach a diagnosis. Within 24 hours, a physician interprets the raw data and compiles a list of recommendations.
The specialists at the Sleep Center work closely with the patient, family, and referring physicians and other specialists throughout the diagnosis and treatment process. Upon completion of treatment, the referring physician resumes ongoing care.
