– Park Plaza Hospital, part of the Tenet Texas health care network, today announced the appointment of John Tressa as the new chief executive officer of the facility. Tressa will oversee all administrative and executive activities at the hospital.
“I am pleased to accept the position of CEO at Park Plaza Hospital,” says Tressa. “I have been associated with this exceptional facility for five years, starting out as the chief operating officer, then as the interim CEO and now CEO. We have made tremendous strides in recent years, and are excited to continue our tradition of providing excellent health care to our valued patients as we expand our service lines and bolster our commitment to sustaining Park Plaza Hospital’s role as a leading hospital in Houston.”
Throughout his five years at Park Plaza, Tressa oversaw numerous expansion projects, including the development of the Bone & Joint Pavilion. He initiated and sustained an affiliation with Baylor College of Medicine, which resulted in clinical programs in geriatrics, surgical oncology and vascular surgery. Tressa was also an integral part of the leadership team that led Park Plaza to receive Tenet Healthcare’s prestigious Circle of Excellence award in 2010. Under his leadership, the hospital was recognized as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement and Spine Surgery, and a Bariatric Center of Excellence from the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.
Prior to his tenure at Park Plaza Hospital, Tressa spent three years at Northeast Medical Center in Humble, Texas, serving as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer. Prior to that, he worked for Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, N.C., where he held the positions of director of medical/surgical nursing and nursing operations, as well as clinical manager of emergency services.
Tressa received his nursing degree from Ravenswood Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill. He also holds a Bachelor of Science, Health Arts degree from the University of St. Francis and a Master of Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene University. He is a member of both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
