HOUSTON – (November 2010) – Park Plaza Hospital and Medical Center, part of the Tenet Texas Healthcare network, has announced the appointment of three new physicians to its cardiology, orthopaedic and OB/GYN practices.  Interventional cardiologist Dr. Masroor Khan, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Dushi Param, and gynecologist and obstetrician Dr. Erica Ruger bring a combined total of more than 29 years of experience to the hospital.

“We are pleased to have these fine doctors join us at Park Plaza,” said Phil Sowa, CEO of Park Plaza Hospital and Medical Center.  “Their strong professional backgrounds and depth of expertise will be tremendous assets in upholding our commitment to quality in all areas of health care for our valued patients.”

Dr. Khan brings more than 19 years of experience in cardiology and internal medicine to Park Plaza.  Prior to joining the hospital as an interventional cardiologist, he served on the medical staff of both the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.  Additionally, Dr. Khan has served as the principal investigator on several cardiovascular clinical science research studies, and has been published in some of the nation’s top cardiology publications, including The American Journal of Cardiology and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions.

Dr. Param has joined the hospital as an orthopaedic surgeon, with a general practice focused on upper and lower extremity cases in both adults and pediatrics.  Prior to joining Park Plaza, he completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He is currently a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a candidate member of both the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association of North America.

A native Houstonian, Dr. Ruger joins Park Plaza after completing her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, where she was elected by her faculty and peers to serve as Administrative Chief Resident and received the Outstanding Chief Award.  She is a member of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and currently serves as a board member of Great Expectations: Teaching, Equipping and Encouraging Ministry to the Family, a nonprofit community outreach program.
