What can I do?
A simple phone call is all that is needed to set up a consultation with one of our staff sleep specialists, which many are diplomates of the American Board of Sleep Medicine.  During the initial consultation you will be interviewed and examined by the physician to obtain a medical and sleep history.

Based on the initial consultation, our sleep physicians may recommend you visit the sleep center in order to identify your sleep problems.  Sleep studies are one of the most effective tools used in the diagnosis of sleep/wake disorders.

What happens if I have a study done in the sleep center?
You will arrive the night of your study around 7:30pm and you will sleep overnight in one of our comfortable bedrooms.  Each room is outfitted similar to a hotel room with queen-size beds, private and semi-private bathrooms with showers, TVs with VCR and DVD players.

Our professional technical staff will place a number of painless electrodes (sensors) on your body to monitor your brain waves, eye and limb movements, heart rate, breathing patterns and snoring.  We will also monitor the level of oxygen in your blood as well as actual movements of your chest and abdomen during sleep.  Every effort is made to make you as comfortable as possible during your stay with us in the sleep center.

What happens after I leave the sleep center?
Once you leave the morning after your study which is around 7:00am, the technical staff will prepare the sleep study recording for your sleep specialist assigned to your care.  Your sleep center physician will determine a diagnosis and they will discuss with you various treatment options.  These may include behavioral therapy, medication and/or the use of medical devices, such as nCPAP, or potentially surgery.

Our sleep specialists at The Sleep Center at Park Plaza will work closely with you, your family, your referring physician and other specialists throughout the diagnosis and treatment process.
